How To Bet On Canelo v GGG From United States

By Boxing

It’s fight week! Canelo and GGG are running it back for a third time this Saturday, September 17th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The two pound for pound greats battled it in two very tight contests back in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The first fight ended in a split draw, while the rematch was won by Canelo Alvarez via majority decision. That said, the majority of boxing media had GGG winning the first fight, and the second fight was scored as either a draw or a GGG win by most media members. The pair certainly have unfinished business due to the controversy surrounding the judging decisions of both events. Waiting four years for the trilogy fight is unfortunate for Golovkin, who is now 40 years old, while Canelo is 31 years old and in his fighting prime.

Canelo has been very active since the second Golovkin fight, winning 8 fights in a row, including several belts, with wins over elite opponents such as Daniel Jacobs, Sergey Kovalev, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant. He lost his most recent fight to Dmitry Bivol, with the Russians size proving too much for Canelo in the light heavyweight division.

Golovkin has only fought four times since the last Canelo fight. He won the vacant IBF and IBO middleweight titles in his second fight back after Canelo, and defended the belts two times, including an impressive TKO win over Ryota Murata this past April. A lot of focus will be on GGG’s age heading into this fight with Canelo, but his win over Murata proved he still has some elite boxing left in the tank.

Canelo vs GGG III could be the biggest boxing match of the year. I’m expecting plenty of new American bettors looking to wager on this GGG vs Canelo trilogy fight.
